The story Parish of the Lord Good Jesus dates back to the 1900s, when the community requested that it be once again served by priests from the municipality of Santo Amaro da Imperatriz/SC. The priests from the municipality of Tijucas/SC, who were in charge of the region, faced difficulties in reaching the parish in a timely manner, which led to the demand for a change. In addition, many families in the community spoke only German, as did the priests from Santo Amaro da Imperatriz. Despite the requests of the community, the parish continued to be served by priests from Tijucas/SC.
In 1968, Monsignor José Locks, who had held the position of Parish Priest of São João Batista/SC since 1950, transferred to Major Gercino and began the construction of a new Church to replace the existing one, which had become too small to meet the needs of the population.
With the completion of the new main church, the old church (with its beautiful German architecture) was left and used by the City Hall for different purposes, including as a health center for many years. Currently, the Parish is undergoing renovations, but it is still possible to visit it.
